Just looking to become some tips from here on how I could go about repairing the frayed edge of a carte du jour holder which has some kind of bonded edge. I've seen suggestions on just getting edge paint for it. Would that exist enough to last a few years? What is the best fix?
The object is of sentimental value and so I would rather fix than annihilation. I've never done any leather work simply is pretty handy in nearly other areas.

Edge pigment is your best (and only) bet. You can pick up a bottle of Fiebings black border kote on Amazon relatively cheaply. Brush information technology on with a q-tip and build it up slowly, layer by layer, sanding after each application, until you take built up enough that information technology begins to flow over the cracked edge. And so sand the edge flush and burnish with a top coat of beeswax, which volition help seal it and make full any remaining gaps.

Sounds do-able. Thankyou for your suggestions!

Pictures would help, border paint could be a likely option though. Especially if it's a bonded leather, and then you don't really have many other options.

I've had better luck with Tandy edge paint made by Fenice. It comes in a multitude of color and is much more flexible than Edge Kite. IMHO
